Kanchanaburi

After a return to Bangkok for a second time in under a week we were both looking forward to a break from the smog and heat of Bangkok.  Kanchanaburi was just the ticket.  It’s a small town with a rich history located about 4 hours west of Bangkok.
Neither of us knew why it was a popular tourist destination until we looked it up in the guidebook.  The only reason we had thought about going there was because a couple of Ozzy guys (Ben 1 and Ben 2) had mentioned that …

The Best Breakfast in the World

I think I’ve found it.
I know we’re covering a good section of the globe… I decided to myself I’d like to find the best breakfast ever.
I’ve had many a good breakfast…. many an expensive breakfast (re: Le Meridien 100 dollar breakfast NYC) and even a Big Boy Breakfast.
NOTHING compares to the Art Cafe – Koh Chang boiled eggs and toast. A delight we stumbled upon after actually ordering scrambled eggs and toast (the best mistake I’ve ever made in my life)
I know you’re probably shaking your heads thinking – …

Koh Chang

After the madness of Bangkok and Hong Kong a beech break was much needed. Before I left for Thailand I found out that a friend of mine, Gemma, was going out to Koh Chang on holiday. This was was the perfect excuse to hit the beech. After 5 days in Bangkok we hopped on a bus for the Island. 5 1/2 hours later we had arrived.
There was an initial confusion with the taxi service as there only seems to be one road on the Island and taxi drivers seemed to …

Bangkok Baby

Bangkok – Best Experienced at night
I could finish the blog there and let you decide why for yourselves but I’ll fill you in on our experiences in the city so far.
Well it’s one of those places that you keep coming back to. Not necessarily because you love it but it’s actually one of the hubs of transportation in Thailand which guarantees your return when you want to move on.  The Stereophonics album ‘You gotta go there to come back’ kinda sums up Bangkok.
As I said earlier, it is best experienced at night-time.  During …

Random Observations Post 1

A list of things I’ve noticed one month into the trip that are a little different to home:

Men carry their girlfriend’s handbag. They don’t just hold it by their side but actually put it over their arm and walk down the street masculine as ever.
All soft drinks from the street stalls come in old school glass bottles. So many people can be seen walking around with a sprite in a plastic sandwich bag filled with ice.
The majority of pavements are not used for actual walking. Most thai people travel by moped …

Hong Kong – Part 2

2nd Full Day in Hong Kong
After going a little too hard on the drink we woke up at around midday feeling slightly hazy on it and tried to figure out from the last pictures on the camera what time we got home.  We still aren’t entirely sure but today was a new day in Hong Kong (even though we’d slept to through most of it).  We decided to take a break from the Skyscrapers and fast pace of the city, Repulse Bay was just the ticket.  We caught the bus …
