One of my favourite things about Asia is the food.
And anyone who has spent any time there will know the best place to eat – is on the street.
The pozibility of bringing this phenomena to Australia is pretty exciting.
When I first heard of the Street Food Australia (SFA) campaign, I immediately loved it . This social enterprise group have the aim to give less well-off migrants living in OZ the opportunity to start up their own food business. Giving people the chance to bring their cultural cooking skills to the …

When we first set out on our trip, I was looking forward to having my first real culture shock. To a certain extent, our first stop Hong Kong was our first experience, mainly with the food. We had somewhat naively expected the food to be like our local Chinese takeaway at home. This was not the case; instead we were treated to chicken’s feet on street stalls and the smell of shrimp paste in the air. Donna also found herself to be a bit of a minor celebrity, with the …

Ok so my job might not be as exciting as the TV show title it rips off but it’s worth a mention on this blog.
Yes it’s a secret that I’m blogging while I’m in work…but to be honest I don’t think it’s that big of a deal really. That’s where working attitudes differ between Australia and the UK.

Time is flying by at the minute. I think it must be down to being so busy in work with conferences (8 in 8 weeks and counting), countless brochures, Northern Ireland Yearbook, re-branding, white van man and general technical ‘go to’ guy. Never a dull moment. I don’t mind so much because I know that come the 16th January I will be starting the RTW adventure.
The planning and preparation has taken a bit of a lull lately as I’ve been struggling on with the TEFL course. I’ve finally got through …

During out initial planning stages for the trip we always had in mind that we would either work in Australia or New Zealand, with New Zealand being first preference for both Donna and myself.
As you are probably all probably more than aware of, the global economy is in a bit of a poor state. We’ve been hearing reports left, right and centre that backpackers in Australia and New Zealand are finding it difficult to find work at the minute. The main reason for this being that jobs which were usually …

This non spending malarky seems alright. Saying that, I’ve not had any temptation as it’s been a pretty bog standard work week since I began my journey into the financial desert.
As I spoke of ‘breaking point’ in my last blog….I am 24 hours into being semi-rich dons again after getting paid yesterday.
When i say ‘semi-rich’ I actually mean ‘skint as ever’. This pay packet has been spent before it even hit my bank account with the amount of little medeelies waiting to be paid for.
I know I’m gonna be majorly hit up for …
