    Gareth,

How goes it? I left you a message when you first started your travels back in February 2010. I was heading to Hong Kong, and I did actually have a great time as always there. I found a nice hostel to stay in for about 30 US dollars.

How is it teaching in Vietnam? I am dreaming of teaching english in Asia. I am finishing my degree…it is only an Associated Degree/2 year degree here in the United States, but was going to take a TEFL class somewhere in Asia for my TEFL certificate. What could I expect to be paid with these qualification, if you don’t mind me asking. I am too old to stick around and get my Bachelor’s degree. I am 55 and want to start traveling around Asia teaching, and want out of my job I have been doing for the past 35 years

My wife is a filipina, and she will stay in the US for a while, but I am ready to head over around March or April of 2014. Are there plenty of opportunities too to find work? Again, would I make enough money to send some back to help out my wife…she won’t need too much, but could I send her back a few hundred dollars and have enough to live on and do a little travel around the area? I hope you don’t mind these questions…I am glad to see that you two have taught there in Vietnam, and might be able to give me a little advice. I have a friend who is Vietnamese, and he thinks I could do pretty good, but you are there, in the region.

Thanks for any insight you might be able to give me!

    Jay in Oregon, United States
